Wireless Handheld Readers

Wireless Handheld Readers Logo

Credential readers are essential to access control systems, so why limit them to the wall?

The Cypress Handheld Reader communicates wirelessly through its base unit to your access controller, allowing random challenges; credential checks in security booths, in trucks and aboard buses. The Handheld Reader is also recommended for mustering and emergency assembly points.

The handheld unit can be worn and set to trigger an alarm or open a door at the touch of a button, empowering security officers.

Suprex® Reader Extenders

Suprex® Reader Extenders Logo

When installing a credential reader far from an access controller, or when dormant cabling is already in place, a Suprex® Reader-Extender saves time, money, and reduces mess.

Use a Suprex along with existing RS-485, Ethernet, or Fiber Optic, or connect wirelessly. Suprex models are recommended as alternatives to using a second control panel.

Specific recommended uses include:

  • Wireless
  • Use when installing readers at sites across parking lots, railroad tracks, or in settings where it is undesirable to trench or where minimal disruption is preferred, such as buildings with historical significance or those which contain asbestos

  • Fiber Optic
  • Use in desert, lightning-prone or corrosive environments, or when greater distance is desired

      • RS-485
      • Use at sites where RS-485/2-wire is available, or in elevators and at sites where high immunity to electrical noise under adverse conditions is needed

          • Ethernet
          • Plug Suprex Central & Remote units into routers / switches to install readers anywhere on an existing network, or connect directly with Ethernet crossover cable
